Log On to Outlook Web Access (OWA)
The introduction of Exchange 2003 provides KU users with two versions of Microsoft Outlook Web Access - the "enhanced" version and the "basic" version. Previous users of OWA will see that the user interface has been completely redesigned for easier mail reading and message management and should also be aware that there are several new features available.
- In any web browser, type the Outlook Web Access address (owa.ku.edu) in the address field and press [Enter]. The Log On screen appears.
- In the KU Online ID: field, type your username (not your full name).
- In the Password: field and type your password. This field is case-sensitive.
- If you are using Internet Explorer for Windows, you have a choice of which client you want to use. If you are using a different web browser this choice is not displayed
- Enhanced - Includes all the features of OWA including the new enhanced features. Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 is required for some features.
- Basic - Other browsers and earlier versions of Internet Explorer may only use the basic version. This provides a subset of the features that are available in the premium version.
- Under the Security section, choose the type you want to use.
Note: |
OWA now uses a logon page for better security. Logon credentials are now stored differently. When you click the logoff button in OWA, you are really logged out. This is an added security measure especially useful for those who share a computer or those who access their email from a public computer in a lab or the libraries. Your OWA session will automatically log you off after a certain amount of time. When you logon, you specify what kind of computer you are using. If you select Private Computer, your session will timeout after 24 hours. If you select Public or shared computer your session will be closed after 30 minutes. Even if you leave your browser open and someone tries to use it, they won't be able to do anything. |
- Click Log On. The Outlook Web Access Inbox appears.
