Exchange Policies


Disk Space

Data Restoration

Data contained in Exchange will only be restored due to a system failure. Single messages or single mailboxes will not be restored. Users should take precautions when deleting items. Deleted messages are moved to the user's "Deleted Items" folder where they may be recovered until the user empties the "Deleted Items" folder.

Virus Protection

Scanning for viruses is performed on the Exchange system. Users should also perform active virus scanning on their own workstations. The University has a license agreement with Sophos Antivirus which provides Sophos Antivirus software for both Windows and Macs free to students, staff, and faculty. System Maintenance

Occasionally system maintenance requiring service interruption may be conducted during the maintenance window of 5:00 am - 7:00 am, seven days a week. Maintenance may also be conducted on weekends from 6:00 p.m. on Friday evenings until 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. Notices are posted on the KU Computing page when maintenance is scheduled.

Dependent Policies

The Exchange service provided by KU is bound by all applicable, existing Information Services policies and the KU Email Policy.
