Outlook 2000 for Windows Configuration

  1. After restarting, go to the Start menu and select Settings, then Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Mail.
  3. Click Add and select Microsoft Exchange Server for your information service, click OK.
  4. Enter the server name: exchange.ku.edu
  5. In the Mailbox field enter your username. This is what appears before the @ in your email address.
  6. Click Check Name.

  7. You will be prompted to login and provide your username, domain, and password. Enter your Exchange account username and password. The domain is home. Click OK .
  8. Once the name has been successfully checked, an underline appears. Click OK.
  9. Click Add and select Outlook Address Book, then click OK.
  10. Click Finish.
  11. Click OK to exit mail.
  12. Exit control panel.
  13. Double-click the Outlook client on the desktop.
  14. This will start the Outlook 2000 startup wizard.
  15. Click Next.
  16. The Outlook Mail Usage dialog box appears only if you had a previous version of Outlook installed on your computer. Answer yes to keep the same configuration as your previous version.
  17. E-mail Upgrade Options lists the other email programs on your machine. Select the program you want to import from or select None of the above. If you chose to import please read the import instructions.
  18. E-mail Service Options--select Corporate or Workgroup.

  19. When asked if you travel with your computer answer Yes (if you are installing on a laptop) or No (if you are installing on a workstation).
  20. When the install is finished, Outlook will launch. You will be prompted to login and provide username, domain and password (same as step 7).
  21. You will be given a choice whether you want to register Outlook as your default email manager. If you do, when you send mail from inside Internet Explorer or Netscape it will launch Outlook.
  22. You can begin using Outlook.
