Outlook 2000 Email Importing

When you install Outlook it will automatically see several other email programs on your computer and ask if you want it to import data from these programs. It can import from Eudora, Netscape Mail 2.x or 3.x, Microsoft Internet Mail, or Netscape Messenger. Please be aware that if you import from one of these programs Outlook will assume that you want to continue using the server associated with that program. That means that if you used Eudora to read mail on your Falcon account, Outlook will default to an Internet Mail Only install pointed at your Falcon account. You will need to go in and manually change your configuration to the Corporate or Workgroup install to be able to access Skylark (the Exchange server).

Switching from Internet Mail Only to Corporate or Workgroup:

  1. Have Outlook open.
  2. Choose Tools from the menu bar and then select Options.
  3. Select the Mail Delivery tab.
  4. Choose Reconfigure Mail Support.
  5. Select Corporate or Workgroup, then Next.
  6. This will pop-up a message that this change will affect all users on this machine. Click Yes to make the change.
  7. Restart Outlook.

Outlook will access the server or the installation CD and then proceed with the set up.

  1. When prompted select MS Exchange Server for your information service.
  2. Type skylark.mail.ku.edu in the MS Exchange Server field.
  3. Make sure the Mailbox field contains your first and last name.
  4. Click Check Name.
  5. Once names have been successfully check (will appear underlined), click OK.
  6. When asked if you travel with your computer answer Yes (if you are installing on a laptop) or No (if you are installing on a workstation).
